ATTENTION ALL PROFESSIONALS WHO WORK WITH FAMILIES GOING THROUGH DIVORCE OR SEPARATION:

Please join us on February 10th for the KFI Webinar: Parent-Child Contact Problems: From Research to the Bench

Dear Colleagues,

As a professional working with children and families, we regularly encounter the complex dynamics inherent when a child refuses or resists court-ordered contact time with a parent.

The Kids First Institute for Advanced Professional Learning (KFI) invites you to the first of our 2026 webinar series, The Court Says Go, but the Kids say NO! Multidisciplinary Approaches to Resist/Refuse Dynamics

The first webinar, Parent-Child Contact Problems: From Research to the Bench, will provide an overview of the current research and legal approach to cases where children refuse or resist court-ordered contact time with a parent.

Dr. Shely Polak, PhD, MSW, RSW, Acc.FM., will provide a foundational overview of concepts, theory, and scholarship on this challenging matter and examine how leading experts in the field are working to better understand the causes and impacts and further develop potential solutions for families and professionals.

Hon. Loralie Spooner, Family Matters Magistrate, will analyze how the court evaluates  parent-child contact problems while discussing the court's tools, role of attorneys, and engagement with community resources and non-legal professionals. The webinar will conclude with a Q&A session among the presenters, moderators, and attendees.
