Conflict? You’ve Got Options!

The Maine Association of Mediators (MAM) is a member-run organization dedicated to educating the public about the benefits of Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) and assisting its members with their professional development. Established in 1989, we are a network of people who provide Mediation, Arbitration, Early Neutral Evaluation, and Facilitation services to Maine individuals, businesses and the court system.

Alternate Dispute Resolution offers ways to handle conflict, often outside the court system.  If you are experiencing conflict, such as divorce issues, real estate disputes, tenant/landlord issues, workplace conflict, conflict in schools, please email or call us today, or peruse the website to learn more about how MAM members can help.

MAM does not offer mediation services, however our website maintains a list of mediators, whom you may contact by expertise or location: FIND A PRACTITIONER

A number of our mediators are able to provide mediation services by ZOOM. Go to FIND A PRACTITIONER to learn more.

The walk from "no" to "yes"

Listen to this Ted Talk by William Ury, author of “Getting to Yes”. Mr. Ury offers an elegant, simple (but not easy) way to create agreement in even the most difficult situations — from family conflict to, perhaps, the Middle East.

Follow the Science: Proven Strategies for Counteracting Bias

This is a video hosted by Harvard Program on Negotiation featuring David Hoffman and Helen Winter.

The article citing all the studies and narrative from the program can be found here

One of our members cannot recommend this video enough:

"It is solution-based (7 ways to counteract bias), to the point (1 hour without extraneous materials), scholarly (see the law review article), and accessible (free program and short)."
