As part of the Maine Association of Mediators ongoing effort to offer free or low-cost training on Conflict Resolution Day each year, we are pleased to provide this year’s session on Conflict Coaching!

Conflict management coaching or conflict coaching is a one-on-one structured process that is goal-driven, future-focused, and action-oriented. Professional conflict coaching aims to support clients by raising self-awareness about themselves and the other person involved in the dispute. Self-determination is key to driving client choices to the action steps they will take to address their situation. In this introductory overview, participants will learn the following based on the globally recognized CINERGY© Conflict Coaching model:

·        Evolution of professional coaching with its broader applications

·        Intersection between dispute resolution and conflict coaching

·        Distinctions between coaching, mediation, counseling, and consulting

·        Comparison of coaching and mediation skills competencies

·        Entry points into conflict coaching: before, during, or after a dispute

·        Overview of the 7-stage model

·        Determine if conflict coaching is a value-added or a referral source to clients
